COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Does one require a computer or the GrowLink software ?

This is an easy answer. No. The procom unit functions quite nicely in a stand-alone mode. We have numerous systems that are almost 10 years old and the growers a happy using the controller in a stand alone function. remember the basic procom unit will provide to to 30 days of previous data and information. The growling software is a very nice enhancement to the basic system. It allows for data for long term data storage and manipulation and retrieval and remote control features. The way we look at the Growlink software package is ...... it would be a nice Christmas Present for the procom Unit in the future.

How easy it it to install a Procom Unit ?

Since the Procom unit is all 24 VAC in operation, the actual installation is very very easy. All terminals for both input devices ( ie sensors ) and outputs are readily identified. Its basically a matter of hanging the sensor sets, running the sensor wire back to the controller and connecting to the identified terminals. All sensor sets comes with 100 feet of wire already installed for you. All of the output terminals are connected to the devices and device relays/contactors and connected to the appropriate terminals. For those that require a relay/contactor panels we can offer these completely prewired and identified for you. This makes the installation easy to install. The relay panel of coarse can be field fabricated by your own electrician if you desire.

The basic Procom Unit has only 12 outputs, what do I need if I need more outputs ?

12 additional outputs are easily added to the system with out expansion module. The nice thing about the expansion module is it can be added any time in the future. The expansion module is comprised in its’ own panel enclosure c/w Hand-Off-Auto Switches and is connected to the basic Procom Unit with a ribbon cable. Again ....... this is the nicest thing about the Procom Line up ....... a flexible / expandable / user friendly system . A lot of our clients have started off with a Basic Procom unit and as time goes on and they expand or add additional environmental control equipment, their Procom unit expanded with them to suit their needs with very little cost. Notice I used the word “ expanded “, not removed or upgraded. This allows the grower to wisely spend their capital during expansions.

We are are still confused about the Growlink software. How can the Procom work without the software ?

Consider the Growlink as a Communication Network. Basically each Procom Unit, Weathermaster, or Water Pro unit as an intelligent device. All that the Grow Link does is to retrieve information ( ie: temperatures, humidity, carbon dioxide levels, equipment status, staging status etc. ) from the standalone units and to send any additional information such as revised set points etc. to the standalone units. This is all done though a communications cable. It’s almost like the old days of telephone when clients were connected to a rural party line system. Easy ..... effective .... and easy to do.
