High Pressure Fog Cooling Systems

We have represented Microcool high pressure fog cooling for the past 10 years. Microcool high pressure fog cooling systems are manufactured by Environmental Engineering Concept Inc.

Micro cool high pressure fog systems are an effective tool to control the humidity and temperature in the greenhouse environment. Typically all growers have a problem with low humidity and high temperatures. Microcool addresses these problems by using high pressure fog flash evaporating into the air.

Serious problems occur when the humidity in the greenhouse environment drops below 30% RH. Plants will suffer and typically slow or halt the growing process. At temperatures over 85 deg. F or 30 deg C plants will cease transpiring and the growing process will stop.

Microcool fog systems for greenhouse environmental control provides the solution to all of these problems. The fog system is installed in the greenhouse with patented nozzles equally spaced within the greenhouse producing 10 micron droplets. These droplets quickly evaporate without wetting into the air to cool and humidify. University tests provide that Micro cool can effectively increase production and quality for greenhouse growers.

Conventional Pad and Fan do not provide the cooling required or results are uneven. Large fans are required and incur huge energy costs.

Temperature reductions of up to 25 deg. F can be expected in many situations. Humidity control can be evenly controlled through the hose for even propagation and growth.

Micr cool systems are custom made for each greenhouse and incorporate state of the art flexible lines, high pressure pumps and installation materials. Systems installed around the globe are every day giving the growers the solution to temperature and humidity problems.

High Pressure Pump Modules

Microcool's range of pump modules has been designed with aesthetically pleasing fiberglass cover that is non-corrosive and sound attenuated. Microcool's utilization of the Giant pump module has enhanced reliability with a one year warranty and a worldwide network of service agents. The pump modules are available in a wide range of sizes and voltages. Systems are tailored to each application. Sizes range from 0.5 GPM to 11.0 GPM.

The standard soundproofing material installed in each pump module allows for quieter performance and for the pump to be installed in noise sensitive areas. A lightweight non-corrosive aluminum frame construction has been adopted for all the different ranges of pump modules to reduce weight and therefore transportation costs. Additional sub-frames for modules further reduce vibration and noise.

Fitted as standard to all Microcool pump units is an adjustable low pressure water switch that will interrupt the low voltage circuit and close down the pump. This ensures that the pump is protected from overheating and damaging the seals, if there is water failure. This is adjustable to on-site specifications ( we require a minimum setting of 40 PSI.)

Thermal safety valves are used on all pump modules. This further protects the seals and bearings. The thermal safety valve will open when the temperature of the water exceeds 140 deg. F. Small amounts of water bleed through the valve ensuring that the water temperature stays below critical levels. This ensures that the pump is protected at all times.

On the E1.7 to E 4.6 range of pumps an external bypass configuration is fitted as standard. This allows the users immediate access and control over the system pressure, making it extremely flexible in the field.

On models 0.90 through E11.0 pump modules a check valve is installed on the pump head that does not open till 100 PSI. This ensures that no water passes into the system while the pump is connected to a pressurized water supply. No aggravation drips and drainage occurs while the pump is in standby mode.

A terminal box is securely mounted on the front of the pump unit. Standard components inside are the specialized transformer and motor contactor rated for each system. 24 VAC fused circuitry on the pumps ensure safe connections and lower cabling costs to ancillary equipment. Wiring diagrams are located inside the covers and a convenient terminal strip is located on the top for fast and secure cable connections.

Other features on each pump module include, drainage solenoid valves, inlet water solenoid valves, air fan for mechanical ventilation and vibration isolation.

Filtration

Microcool systems all have complete water filtration systems to ensure water quality and added reliability.

Patented Nozzles

Microcool's patented nozzle creates a 10 micron water fog droplet. Constructed of brass and stainless steel, these nozzles meet tolerances of 10/1000". This ensures you have one of the finest fog nozzles on the market. In some instances an application requires more fog, a special nozzle with a 0.025" orifice that produces a 25 micron droplets is available. The standard nozzle with a 0.008" orifice puts out 0.022 GPM at 800 PSI. The 0.020" orifice nozzle displaces 0.065 GPM at 800 PSI. To prevent dripping after shut down, all nozzles are attached to anti-drip check valves. Atomization lines are built to customer design specifications. All nozzles swivel through 360 degree on the line, adding greater flexibility to the system. All nozzles, fittings and lines are manufactured to the highest quality standards. The nozzles are factory installed at specified spacings onto flexible atomizing line.

Manifold Hose

Pressurized water is distributed to the atomization lines through a flexible feed hose of durable construction, consisting of a nylon inner core with synthetic fiber wraps. The outer cover has a UV resistant polyurethane outer skin, allowing installation in direct sunlight without any deterioration.

Our lines will not cause copper oxidation or rust. The manufacturer rates these lines at 3,000 PSI burst pressure. All lines are placed into a pressure tank and static pressure tested to 2,500 PSI prior to shipping.

To accommodate long distances and pressure loss, flex lines are available in sizes 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 3/4" and 1". With brass reusable fittings, systems are easily modified or expanded to allow easy and quick replacement or addition of extra parts. A full range of reusable fittings and joints are available to facilitate a fast and professional installation.

For certain industrial applications stainless steel pipe is also available with nozzles placed at any interval.

Sizing/Selection/Quotations

Complete price lists are available through our office. We do however, encourage clients to contact us for system sizing and selections. There is no charge for sizing of systems. The information that we need are size and dimensions of structures, location, any specialized zoning requirements and whether the structure is mechanically or gravity ventilated. Feel free to contact us.
