Gutter Connected Greenhouse Structures

Gutter connected greenhouse structures are the most popular style structure for the commercial grower that has plans for continued expansion. Additional gutter houses which we call # 2 houses can simply be added to the existing greenhouses at the gutter to form the addition. The new addition can be added without any changes to the existing structure.

The gutter connected greenhouse that we carry are manufactured by Omni Growing Systems. These houses are available in modular 12 foot lengths in widths of 20, 21, 24, 27.5, and 30 feet wide. Just as with their freestanding structures, the gutter connected greenhouse structures feature reinforced arches. The reinforced arch design provides our houses with one of the highest snow load and wind load ratings on the market place.

The gutter houses can be purchased in either double poly roofing cladding ( the most popular ), or hard claddings such as single and double wall polycarbonate. For color photos of structures see below.

The Omni Gutter Connected Greenhouse Structure is a well designed and proven structure. It's design extends back to the late 70's, where growers where seeking a house to stand up against heavy wet snow loads. The standard basic packages include many features that are considered as options on other manufacturers. The gutters and gutter lock are factory prepunched for ease of installation. All structural connection points in members are completely prepunched ( 3/8" or 1/2" bolt and nut ) for ease of installation. Arches feature a slip fit joint at peak and gutter for ease of arch installation. Poly saver ridge purlin features built in bolt track that allows ease of arch alignment.

Standard Specifications - Double Poly Clad Structures

• Gothic peak profile for reduced snow accumulation and condensation drip control.
• Galvanized construction.
• Reinforced arches placed at 6 feet on center.
• Reinforced (energy ) trusses provided at 12 feet on centers at all interior column locations.
• Poly saver ridge purlin prolongs poly life.
• Gutters are 7" deep, 11 Ga.,, galvanized, V bottom w/ poly fastener holes prepunched.
• Column posts are 2 -1/2" sq., 12 Ga., galvanized. We can provide 10, 11, to 12 feet under the gutter height with standard specifications. 14 and 16 feet available with column upgrade.
• Column stubs and tops are welded galvanized construction w/ slip fit joint, prepunched for bolted connection.
• Wind braces . For the roof - 4 per corner. For the columns - 2 sets per column row. For gable ends -1 set per end.
• Aluminum wire lock prepunched for gutter c/w stainless steel insert wire.

OMNI REINFORCED ARCH DESIGN

Most greenhouse companies provide only a single bow arch. On wide span structures to gain the required strength they provide framing and strut members from the arch down to the ties. This is really a short term solution since all that it does is create complexity for the grower when installing shade, energy curtain systems or equipment installations. Our reinforced arches allow clear span from gutter to gutter. Allowing clear access for shade, energy curtain or equipment installation. The detail below illustrates our reinforced arch that is used on the 27.5' and 30' wide structures. The top and bottom cords of the arch are placed a full 9" apart and are completely factory assembled with 5/16" diagonal webbing. The top and bottom cords are constructed in 1 1/2" round tube. All components are galvanized. The arches are supplied in halves and joined together at the middle by the arch/ridge bracket. All joints are slip fit. When assembled the arch is one of the industries strongest arches. Our standard specifications require the arches to be placed at 6 feet on centers.

Double Poly Specifications

OMNI GABLE END OPTIONS

• OPTION ONE: Framing steel, 1 1/2" sq. horizontal and verticals. All steel is cut to length. Vertical steel provided 6" longer than required for placement into plies or ground sleeves. All attachments, bolts and nuts provided. See individual specification sheets for quantities provided for different house widths.
  
• Option TWO: Double Poly gable end package is comprised for framing steel as indicated above plus an additional row of stainless steel insert wire for gable arch, a row of wirelock c/w stainless steel insert wire for columns and base and 2 layers of 6 mil, 4 year, UV stabilized clear greenhouse poly. If door package is provided additional wire lock and stainless steel insert wire is provided for door frames. Doors clad in flat polycarbonate sheeting.
  
• Option THREE: Double Poly /PCSS Gabelle is comprised of framing steel as indicated above in option one, plus 8 mm twinwall polycarbonate c/w aluminum splices and attachments to clad from the cross tie up to gable end arches. From the cross tie down to grade two layers of 6 mil, 4 year, UV clear greenhouses poly provided with wirelock track for cross tie, columns and base.
  
• Option FOUR : Single wall corrugated polycarbonate is comprised of framing steel package as indicated above and sufficient quantity of clear single wall corrugated polycarbonate cladding c/w attachments. Lengths provide allow for burial into grade of 4".
  
• Option Five : Twin wall polycarbonate complete. Long term, easily maintained and energy efficient. The package is comprised of framing steel as indicated above plus sufficient quantity of 8 mm twinwall clear polycarbonate to clad entire end. Lengths provided allow burial into grade of 4". Attachments and hardware include aluminum splices, void seal, and weather shield screws.
  
  • On options 3, 4 and 5 we'd recommend providing factory pre-finished arch option with EDPM closure flashing.
    

OMNI SIDEWALL OPTIONS  

• Option ONE: Double poly sidewall package. Is comprised of aluminum wire lock c/w stainless steel insert wire for gutters and columns, 4" X 4" X 14 Ga. Gal. corner flashing, aluminum base c/w built in wire lock c/w stainless steel insert wire, one row of horizontal sidewall framing steel, double wall 6 mil, 4 year UV stabilized clear greenhouse poly, and all attachments and hardware. This package can be upgraded to include roll up sidewall package. The double poly sidewall package is the most popular package selected by the commercial grower. Our aluminum base plate c/w built in wire lock is a very attractive and functional feature. It is easy to install. The built-in bolt raceway allows the base plate to be securely bolted to the columns. The wire lock poly fastener system with stainless steel insert wire securely holds the poly in place with out cutting the poly.
  
• Option TWO: Single wall corrugated polycarbonate. Is comprised of two rows 1 1/2" sidewall pulrins, aluminum gutter rail/transition rail, foam flute gaskets, 4" X 4" X 14 Ga Gal. corner flashing, and sufficient single wall corrugated polycarbonate to clad sidewall ( full length sheets/lengths provide 4" burial into grade ), and all attachments and hardware.
  
• Option THREE: Twin wall Polycarbonate. Is comprised of two rows 1 1/2" sidewall pulrins, aluminum gutter rail/transition rail, foam gaskets, void seal, 4" X 4" X 14 Ga Gal. corner flashing, and sufficient 8 mm twinwall clear polycarbonate to clad sidewall ( full length sheets/lengths provide 4" burial into grade ), and all attachments ( aluminum H splices ) and hardware.
  

DOOR OPTIONS

• Single and double swing door packages are available on request.
  
  • The single door package is comprised of a 4' X 8' welded frame door complete with door framing members, door jamb, door flashing, hinges and latch. Cladding includes flat sheet polycarbonate, corrugated polycarbonate or twinwall 8 mm polycarbonate.
    
  • The double door package is comprised of a 2 4' X 8' welded frame doors complete with door framing members, door jamb, door flashing, hinges, astragal for fixed door and latch. Cladding includes flat sheet polycarbonate, corrugated polycarbonate or twinwall 8 mm polycarbonate.

The above illustration indicates a typical layout for five gutter connected greenhouses. In this particular example, the sidewalls are clad in 8 mm twinwall polycarbonate, the roofs in double 6 mil poly and the gable ends in 8 mm twinwall polycarbonate. In addition, one gable end is provided with a full length 5 foot deep polycarbonate sidewall vent. For those interested, this is a project where supplied the package as a complete turnkey package. We supplied the greenhouse structure, sidewall exhaust fans, heating equipment, carbon dioxide generation equipment, fertilizer injection, horizontal air flow fans (HAF), high pressure fog cooling package and computerized environmental control package. The grower ended up up a very high quality greenhouse structure. That's one of the advantages of requesting complete turnkey packages from your supplier.
