COLD FRAME SECTION

Omni - Commercial Series CF

Cold frame packages are available in widths of 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, and 20 feet. The gothic profile provides maximum headroom while reducing the chance of snow build up at the peak. Arch spacing on the 12', 14' 16' and 20' wide houses are 4 feet on center. The arch spacing on the 8' and 10' wide structures are 6 feet on center. These structures be clad in single or double poly, or hard claddings such as single wall corrugated poly carbonate or 8 mm twinwall polycarbonate. These coldframe packages are available in lengths of 12', 24', 36', 48',60', 72', 84', 96, 108', 120', 132' and 144'. Ventilation and cooling of these structures can be by roll-up sidewall or fan and shutter cooling. A window vent is offered on the houses less than 36' long.

The poly clad houses are provided with our polysaver ridge purlin system. Two rows of sidewall purlin steel, a choice of wire lock or our aluminum baseplate system, a choice of prefinished arch sets and gable end cladding and construction. Windbracing is provided for each corner. Foundations include our standard ground sleeve foundations. These structures can be clad in both single and double poly or for wind locations, retail areas and the backyard in single layer reinforced poly.

The hard clad houses are provided with an aluminum ridge cap system. Square pulrin steel is provided at 3'-6" spacing along the arch to secure the hard cladding package. Windbracing is provided for each corner. Foundations include our standard ground sleeve foundations. The hard clad structures are provide with 8 mm twinwall polycarbonate panels that span from the peak to the grade and are secured using aluminum H splice channels.

Arches are spaced at 4 feet or 6 feet on centers along the length of the building. These are secured into grade using our standard ground sleeve foundations ( included with each package ) or for those that have concrete floor slabs or grade beams with flat bottom mounting plates ( optional at no extra charge ).

The gable ends can be clad in single poly, double poly, corrugated polycarbonate or twinwall polycarbonate. The ends can be also furnished with single or double doors clad in twinwall polycarbonate with aluminum frames. Window vent ends can also be provided. On the 8 and 10 foot wide units the vent is 24" X 6' wide. On the 12 and 14 foot wide units the vent is 24" high X 8' wide. On the 16 foot wide unit the vent is 36" X 8 ' wide. The foundation ground sleeves are 1 1/2" round, sidewall purlin steel ( if a poly clad structure is 1", 14 gauge round and if polycarbonate clad is 1 1/2" sq., 16 guage.). All endwall ( gable end ) framing steel is 1 1/2" square, 16 guage. Windbracing is provided for each corner and is 1" round, 14 guage.

Commonly Asked Questions:

I need more peak and sidewall height than the stock structure ??

There are several ways to do this.

If our ground sleeve foundation system is to be used simply ask us to provide 1', or 2' extensions on the ground sleeves. However, if you go this route it is imperative to order additional cladding material for the gables and roof cladding. There is a slight charge for these extensions and of course for the additional cladding.

If you are planning to use concrete piles ( generally 6" round X 3 or 4 feet deep ) simply cast the ground sleeves into place and extending then up higher. Our standard ground sleeves are 32" long. So if you cast them into concrete you can effectively increase the peak and sidewall heights by 14". ( This still provides 18" of ground sleeve penetration into the concrete. But again if you wish to do this, the standard cladding packages will be short material ..... so again let us know.

For those using a concrete slab system. Simply ask for our flat bottom mount plate system and either the 1' or 2' foot extensions.

For grade beam installations. Simply ask for our flat bottom mounting plate system and the height of additional clearances will be equal to the height of the grade beam.

Can I use these structures to build a lean-to type style structure off my house or garage ???

Sure can. A lot of people do. As an example: Say you wish to build a 24' long X 10 foot wide lean-to type greenhouse off the side of your house. The first thing to confirm is if you have the clearance along the house to install a ledger. ( remember the 20' house has a peak height of 9'-9". ) If okay then, what you need to do is to order a 20' X 12' house ( you'll be splitting it along the middle to make the full 24 foot length. All you need to do is to tell us so that we can exchange our standard V-ridge arch connector brackets with our spacemaker ledger plate brackets. Actually for greater spans ie 12', 15', 18' and 20', if you have the height check out our freestanding section. Same idea. Works great. And a far far less costly than you can imagine.

How easy are they to put up ???

Basically, quite easy. All connections except for the gable end framing is of slip fit design. The slip fit connections are secured in place with self drilling self tapping screws. ( We even supply the driver to install into your electric drill. ) All brackets are pre drilled. Instructions are provided. The only thing that we suggest is to take your time with the layout work. If you install the foundation system out of square, or not aligned, it just adds work to your schedule.

Residential Locations - Cladding Types ???

For long term visual looks and impact resistance we suggest selecting corrugated single wall or twinwall polycarbonate. These products are resistant to hail, rocks, and most vandalism.
