 BRODAK METAL ( TAFF TANKS ) FUEL TANKS

Brodak metal fuel tanks are individually constructed using high quality tin plated steel and brass fill, vent and feed tubes. Tanks to a specially designed soldering process, Brodak tanks are soldered using precise temperatures so that there are very clean solder lines, creating tanks with much better seals and lighter weight. And, because Brodak's does not use excessive heat in the soldering process, there is virtually no distortion of the metal, adding to the tanks durability. In addition to offering a wide range of tanks sizes in wedge and rectangular designs, Brodak's offers the option of ordering custom-designed fuel tanks.

Tank Venting - Types.

Standard Vent. Front tube is fuel pick-up, Top is filler, bottom is overflow. Both top and bottom must remain open for operation.

Uniflow Vent. Front tube in wedge is fuel pick-up, bottom tube is overflow when filling tank and must be capped during operation. Second tube is for filling and must remain open and toward airstream during operation.

Adjustable Tip Weight Box. Cat. No. BH-775.US. Adjustable tip weight boxes are the answer to the question of how to change the amount of weight after the airplane is built. Nearly every airplane has to be trimmed out after construction, and serious builders / flyers know that changing the amount of weight can dramatically effect an airplanes performance. With an Adjustable tip weight box, you can build into the wing half of the weight called for on the plans, then put the other half in the tip box. Brodak Tru-Launch Stooge. Cat. No. BH-848.US. If you fly by yourself, you will need a reliable and safe launching devise. The Tru-Launch Stooge was designed to handle this job for you. It features a study 1/8" thick aluminum base onto which are riveted three turned aluminum uprights. These uprights are fixture drilled to accept a steel release pin, a steel spring and locking collar. The stooge is designed to be mounted to a thin piece of plywood or aluminum, which is in turn pinned onto the ground with long steel spikes made from sharpened 1/8" music wire. A wire or strong cord is attached to the looped end of the release pin. This wire must be long enough to extend out to the pilots position. A 1/16" music wire loop must be attached to the tail wheel strut on the model. Once the model is loaded into the stooge, the engine can be safely started and the pilot can walk to the center of the circle and pick up the flying handle. He can then pick up the release cord and give it a constant pull, until the release pin lets the model go. - in stock

SIDE MOUNTED STUNT ENGINES. On of the truths of CL stunt is that side-mounted engine, cylinder to the outisde of the circle, cannot be made to run correctly for C/L use. There is some basis for this belief, as certainly a Fox.35 with the tank mounted with its centerline on the same center line as the engine, will cough and spit and run rich on the outside turns inverted flight. ... The problem has been the tank location, not the engine. For years, article after article said, " mount the C/L of the tank on the C/L of the engine", so everyone believed this / was correct. It is NOT ! The reasons why are too numerous and theoretical to get into, but the fact is the Fox 35 and nearly all other side exhaust engines, will required the tank C/L to be about 5/16" higher than the engine C/L. Just adjust the tank height until you get the same level flight speed in the upright and inverted laps. Raise the tank ( upright ) if it runs richer in inverted, lower if its leaner while inverted.

A stamped aluminum cover nests in the inletted area, allowing the landing gear wired to be concealed from view, and still allow the landing gear to be removed for construction, finishing and transport. Brodak Strong Arm Control Horns. These are available in both 3/32" and 1/8" wire size and feature dual uprights with silver brazed joints. Brodak Strong - Arm Bellcrank. These bellcranks are machined from linen base phenolic material which is extremely strong. No bushings are necessary for the pushrod wire or for solid type leadouts. If flexible leadouts are to be used, the holes for them must be bushed with brass. A 1/8" diameter steel center post is supplied and the bellcrank rides on a precision turned brass bearing which is solder to the post. A turned brass retainer prevents the bellcrank from wobbling or tilting. Leadout holes at 3-1/2" and 4" spacing are provided. Once oiled, the bellcrank is lubricated for life.

Double Star

Brodak's is pleased to offer the Double Star control line stunt engines from Moldova. These engines are the finest, traditional stunt engines ever produced. All feature AAC technology and are the lightest of their size anywhere. They require little break-in, and operate well on readily available fuels such as SIG Champion.

Double Star Classic 40-3 - in stock

This engine is based on Fox 35, but with greater bore and stroke and AAC construction. It is a direct swap into Fox mounts and weighs the same. It easily turns 11X5 and 11X6 props on 5% nitro and works best in 42 to 52 oz models.

Double Star Classic 50-2

This is based on Tigre G-21 0.46, and is a direct swap into tiger mounts. It weights 8 oz. with bushing shaft and AAC style piston and sleeve. it works well in 48 to 58 oz. models. It is delivered with DS own lightweight tube type muffler.

Double Star 60 Lite -2

The DS 60 lite, AAC/bushing design weight 10 oz. without muffler, with all the power and character of a ST-60, but weight 2 oz less. This engine is a good choice for serious competition. Comes with DS light tube muffler.

Double Star 60 BB-2

The original engine updated with AAC technology instead of the previous ABC which saves 37 grams per engine. The 60 BB-2 is a copy of a custom Tigre 60, and totally duplicates its performance and characteristics. Comes with DS light tube muffler.

 

Fox
