Here's my rant for the day ....... We need more PAMPA members .....
Whats a PAMPA you ask. Well in opinion it is simply the best
organization around when it comes to us control liners. Its a world
wide organization of control line flyers, charter by AMA. From
personal experience as a group of individuals they provide an endless
source of information sharing and friendship. As a member, you
receive every second month a +100 page magazine called Stunt News
that crammed full of inforation related to this sport. Look into it
and we'll make it worth your while .... 10% off prices for being a
PAMPA/AMA or MACC member. PAMPA
you say ????
HELLO --- My name is Ken Clapson. I live in
Calgary, Alberta, Canada. During the past six years, after almost a
20 year absense from control line airplanes, I began to build, crash,
fly ... build better, crash better and some say .... fly better. ( My
wife says that's debatable ..... however, but, I just smile and
accept it because she is my closest CL buddy. She launches my ships,
brings snacks to me at odd hours during the building season,
encourages me and puts up with my messes and odors. ) The last six
years have been the best of times. I certainly have got to meet /
chat / share ideas from some of the nicest guys out there. Fellows
like my model master Windy Urtnowski, Bob Hunt, Leonard Neumann,
George Aldrich, John Brodak and a host of many many other modelers
which I hold our relationship very dearly. Thanks guys you have
really added to my life.
There's even good old Paul Winter's ( he's
from England ), a fellow Tsunami pilot, it is always bright spot when
we talk or email. ( But Paul .... my Tsumani is better and my
Struntress is more Voodoo than your Voodoo ). And for 2001 look out
the Pond II is under construction. And Paul she'll have two SAITO'S.
I guess you can tell I really like Reno Air Racers.
Although my primary business is greenhouses, greenhouse equipment, I
made a decision a to carry a pretty compehensive stocking of Brodak
products. ( Most of the popular kits, Belcranks / horns /tanks /
handles / SS solids and stranded control line and lots of great
Brodak finish. )
My Brodak Fleet.
- Fancy Pants - Fox 35 Hemi for power. A
nice flyer. Great in wind. Always windy in Calgary.
- Oriental - Fox 35 ABC for power.
- Galaxy - Fox 35 power. A real thrill to
fly. I call it Wild Thing.
- 38 Special. There is something special
about a bi -plane. A delight to fly. Stable, predictable. Many
first time fliers have taken her for a spin. Power by a
TT42.
- Original Flight Streak. Fox 35 powered.
My travelling companion. She fits behind my truck seat. Can not
tell you how many ball diamonds and school grounds in rural
Alberta that she has flowen over the last three years. ( Woops
lost the streak in 2001 - hinges on elevator broke on down leg of
wing over -- ouch ).
- Cardinal 40. Wow ..... that's all I can
say. Powered by a TT42 .... great great pleasure. She became may
traveling companion for 2001.
- Nobler. Power by a double star 40.
Simply a jewel. GMA sure new what he was doing, what almost 50
years ago.
Brodak dope and finishing. I have been using
this now exclusively for three years. One cannot find a better
product. Less time to finish. Greater quality. Makes you look like a
pro.
If you visit the finishing tips sections I
have several photos of several my recent of my ships.
Construction Season 2000-2001 : Twin engine
Reno Scale racer called POND
RACER.
I'm trying several new things --- to keep as close as scale like ---
wings swept forward 1 1/2", engine, wing and stab all in line. Engine
power by two SAITO 30's with OS35FP's as back-up.
Construction Season 2001-2002 : Two forty sized full full ships. (
traveling companions ). Evolution/Cardinal 40 and Tsumani 40.
( Lots of
great news here
).
Full Fuse Scale GEE BEE Z - started this
project four years ago. My wife is proding me. Should be an
interesting project --- planning on a SAITO 72 for power.
