Welcome to our 24' Reinforced Freestanding Greenhouse Detail Page

This page make take some time to load up entirely so be patient. This contains current details and features on our 30 foot wide freestanding units. It has always been our firm belief to provide as much detail as possible for our clients when considering a greenhouse purchase. At lot of companies promise a lot of things ...... but show little. We believe a picture and detail sheets are worth a thousand words.

A word about the images. These are in approximately 70% scale. If you wish to view the image in full size simply click the image and a full sized view will be provided. To return to this page from viewing a large scale image please use the return function on your web browser.

This page deals with double and single poly cladding on the roof. For those interested in hard clad packages such as twinwall polycarbonate or corrugated polycarbonate please contact us. All of our houses can be upgraded to accept these cladding systems.

Page One

If you study page one you will find that all of our arches are reinforced / wielded web type design. This provides incredible strength and stiffness. This type of arch design is far more stiff and rigid than the flimsy single bow / cross tie and strut type houses. On closer review you will note that our sidewalls which we call arch uprights are reinforced as well. This allows our structure to handle considerable sidewall snow loads.

Besides being able to carry high snow loads, our design provides a very stiff structure in high wind loads. Unlike single bow / strutted / cross tie type houses our structure show less movement in wind events. This means greater poly life and grower confidence.

Need to hang some equipment or overhead crop

.... well go ahead.......

Here in Western Canada we commonly simply hang 400 lb unit heaters from one arch set ( even on our 30 foot wide units ). No more support stands to build or to add extra steel in the roof to spread the load. This feature makes equipment installation easy.

Our standard reinforced arch upright provides 4'-11" vertical sidewall height before sloping to the peak. For those that require higher sidewall clearances we offer 7 foot and 10 foot tall reinforced sidewall packages. These add considerable height and volume to the structures.

These sidewall packages are great:

Page four indicates our gable end framing layouts. As you can see .... we don't skimp on the steel. All framing steel is provided in approximate lengths and is 1 1/2" sq., 16 gauge galvalum. None of that light weight cheesy 18 gauge stuff on our ends. Every endwall package also includes 1 1/2" gable end windbracing diagonals that take wind loads imposed on the gable ends and superimposes that load back into the structure.

The gables can be clad in double poly, twinwall polycarbonate, metal cladding, corrugated polycarbonate etc.

Our double poly roof vent system offers great features. The double poly roof vent system is an option and can be added anytime in the future if the grower requires.

The arch pivots are spaced at 6 feet on center and are attached to our incredibly stiff reinforced arch system .... not to some wet noodle single bow arch. So in wind events .... our vents handle the loads.

Second ... Our arch pivot ... which a lot of our clients call them shepherds hooks .... and .... they are just that. Our reinforced arch design allows the pivot point of our arch pivots to be located at the bottom cord of the arch far away from the poly. NO MORE HOLES AT THE PIVOT POINTS is the result. Again longer poly life.

Third ... Our standard vent package on the 24 foot freestanding units are: 1" galvanized sched. 40 drive shaft, racks/pinions and hangers at 6 feet on center ( along each reinforced arch set ). Rubber EDPM flashing seal along the length of the vent. Just to name a few.

Double Poly Roof Vent

As indicated below, the double poly roof system allows you to open the roof along the length of the building. Couple that with a Vent Motor and controls such as a Ventstat, Ventmate, Growcom or Procom controller and you will have a true 8 stage vent system. Tons of power and flexibility. It puts you in the drivers seat.

Roll-UP Sidewalls - "Ideal for moderate climates or the seasonal grower"

Roll-up sidewalls are easily added to our structures on one side or both sides. Typically our rollup sidewall packages include a hand crank, 1 1/2" roller pipe, PVC poly clips that secure the poly to the roll pipe, a row of our aluminum base to act as a header, and if in wind exposed locations or as requested by the grower, windrestrains that are placed at 12 feet on center.

For those that wish to use insect screening ---- well simply install the insect screen --- secure in place with a few strips if wire lock before pulling the poly and instantly you have a screened opening when the roll-up is operated.

Once you used our base plate system you will scratch your head why for all those past years and poly loss, why you put up with the old wood base plate and wire lock set up. Our base is a structural product. It simply attaches to each arch set with clamps provided and is complete with built-in wire lock track.

Easy to install ...... looks great ..... won't rot ( like wood ) ..... extend the life of your poly ....
and best of all sleep well during those wind events.

For those that wish to go with wood base plates ... let us know .... we'll price out the difference between just wire lock and our aluminum base.
