Welcome to our 20' Series FS / Model HC / Reinforced Freestanding Greenhouse Detail Page

This page may take some time to load. The illustrations/details have been formated as to allow them to be printed of on 8 1/2" X 11" paper for those that wish to study the details.

The only difference between the hard clad structures Model HC and the poly clad structures Model DP is that 14 rows of 1 1/2" sq. ( 38 mm ) purlin steel is provided which are evenly spaced along the face of the structure to provide attachment points and support for the hard cladding panels. The average spacing on the purlins is approximately 3 feet ( 0.9 M) which allos the hard clad system to withstand considerable snow and wind load before deformation of the panels occur.

Page One below illustrates a typcial section through the house using our standard 5 foot reinforced uprights.

Page two below illustrates a typical section through the house using our optional 7 foot high reinforced arch uprights. This provides higher sidewall and peak heights. If you look in detail we provide two extra rows of purlin steel. For those that wish even higher sidewalls ---- consider our 10 foot high sidewalls.

We find thouse wishing to build a hard clad storage building ( ie farm equiment, air plan hangers Ie on our 36 foot and 40 foot wide structures ), the optional sidewalls are ideal. )

Back to the greenhouse side of things we find growers wishing to use the structures as retail houses like the higher sidewall options. This provides addtional overhead clearance for bask crops and the higher sidewalls allow full dimensional doors to be located on the sidewalls. ( Just another usefull little feature that we offer ).

The illustrations below show our standard end wall frmaing and cladding packages. These are pretty much identical for the Model DP houses so if you wish detailled information look for this in our double poly house selection.

Question and Answers

We commonly get asked this question. Can our houses be clad in wood sheething ( ie plywood or OSB ) and then clad with roofing ashpalt roofing shingles ?

The answer is Yes. 3/8" plywood and OSB can be curved around the structure and secured to the metal purlins with self tapping waffer screws. The shingles then attaches to the OSB/Plywood just as though it was a standard building roof. The same holds true for low rise metal V-rib siding. This approach provides a very durable long term afforable storage building that rivals the prices of pole buildings. Great to machine shops, storage buildings, repair shops, heated storage etc.

For those wishing to provide basic protection from rain, snow and wind .... consider a model DP house with single layer 10 mil reinforced poly. Very very economical...
